Our New Addition

Wren Caroline
Born May 9, 2009 - 6:22PM
6lbs 7oz, 191/4 inches

Proud parents - yes, the baby is bluish. We had a bit of an issue with the cord, but the delivery went quickly and after a little time with the nurses, little Wren was fine.

Ready to go home from the hospital

Enjoying Wren at home

Wren has the sweetest disposition. She was 6lbs when we left the hospital, but she is such a good eater, we know that she won't be small for long. She has been sleeping through the night since we got her home (I know this can't last) and puts up with being passed around. Grayson, who is 2 and a half, is doing great. He loves the baby and if you ask what he thinks of her, he says, "Ohhh, cute" - a perfect mimic of his older sisters. For some reason, when asked what the baby's name is, he says, "Poop!" We're not sure why, but it's hilarious.

Averie, who is almost 5, loves to hold the baby and is very helpful. She had a cold when the baby was born, so she is just now getting to be more cuddly with her.

The older kids all think the baby is the tiniest, sweetest baby ever (she is). They can't believe that they had such little fingernails and feet and ears. We are enjoying figuring out who she looks like. So far, we think she's a pretty good mix. Daddy's ears and nose. Mommy's lips and eyes and loooong fingers and toes.

Cul de sac Campout

July 29, 2008

With school, work and life, its been really difficult to get away for our usual summertime camping trips. The campfires, tents and of course, smores are a major highlight of our summers. Thankfully, our neighbors were feeling the same way, so we all decided to have a cul de sac campout. The boys slept in one tent across the street while the girls slept in a tent in our front yard. We put lawn chairs around the fire bowl in the middle of the street and roasted hot dogs and smores. Everybody had a blast!

We were all entertained by the musical stylings of Grayson and his magical kazoo. Literally HOURS of fun.

Wedding at Mount Pisgah

We went to Jeremy and Camilla Larson's wedding at Mount Pisgah Arboretum. It was a beautifully rustic ceremony, set in a clearing surrounded by trees. Afterward, we all moved up to the covered arboretum for dinner and dancing. Averie wanted to dance with "The Princess" whom she must not have recognized as Camilla. Later, we found out that another little girl kept asking to play with "The Princess." She meant Averie. Suddenly, we realized that before we know it, Averie will be the princess in the wedding gown.

Pictures

The family

Most of the pictures here were taken at the beach on one of our many trips to Newport, OR.

We chaperoned a dance at the middle school. Ciaran, an incoming 6th grader, was really excited to go to her first social. Joel shaved all of his facial hair except for this very attractive moustache and told her that he was ready to go to the dance.

Stockwells

Winter and spring have gone by in a blur! We've been so busy with kids and our own school that we haven't kept up with family. We thought that it would be fun to post a blog to let everyone in on the goings on here in Springfield.
